Monbulk is situated in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges about 55km east of Melbourne.
The name Monbulk is taken from the aboriginal word Monbolloc which means ‘a hiding place in the hills.' It is legend that aboriginal men injured in tribal battles would retreat to the Monbulk area to recover.
